If yes how was this achieved?

Ashley Surgery’s Patient Participation Group (PPG) was established in 2008. Originally it was set up by the Practice Manager (PM) in conjunction with the chair of a local community group. This was following a local residents meeting where the “need” for a patient group was identified, as feedback from some of the practices’ patients, attending the meeting suggested that communication between patients and the surgery needed to improve. The PM worked with the chair of the local community group to form a PPG; this involved writing to a selection of community group and organisation leaders requesting that they nominate a representative to sit on the panel. The PPG has continued to function from 2008 until the present time although during this time the “chair” and group members have changed. A virtual group was set up in 2011 by the PPG with the assistance of the local Ashley and Loggerheads community group.

Additional input on design and content of the questionnaire was received through consultation with a member of the LINK and chair of his local group.
